Editing Pages

Pages can be easily edited on CFS websites using the various design objects available in the website editor.

To edit a page on your website, when logged into the website, navigate to the page you want to edit via the navigation bar.

Once you navigate to a page, you will see the edit button appear at the top of the website. Click the edit button to open up the page editor.

Page Editor Overview

In the page editor, each element or section on the page is editable and moveable. To edit an element click into the box or click the edit button to interact with that element and make changes to it's content. For example, when you click into a text element you will be able to type and edit the text in the box, the text editor will appear with options for styling, linking and aligning the text.

For other elements like image elements, there may be an "Edit Image" button that you will need to click to make changes to the image.

If there is no edit button and you can't click into the element to edit, then you will need to click the pencil icon on the left side to make changes to the element via the element settings.

Each element on the page will have a pencil icon on the left which allows you to access various settings for that element, a dotted rectangle in the middle which allows you to drag and drop the element on the page and a X in the right corner that allows you to delete the element.

Some page areas like the header and footer will have an option button available that allows for some design settings to be changed for that area on the page or site-wide. Styling options for borders or shadows, margins, device views and scroll settings are all available in this window. A save revisions option is also available if you would like to restore previous versions of the area, 6 previous revised versions of the area will be stored here incase you need to restore a previous version.

To toggle between site-wide or page specific settings, click the page specific or site-wide button beside options.

Page Structure

The design bar on the left side of the page editor has an option for page structure that allows you to add various types of columned sections to the page. These columns are areas that content elements can be placed within. To add a section to the page, simply click on the desired section type and drag/drop it on the page where you want it.

The different types of columns can be useful for creating specific types of content layouts on pages. For example, if you want to have written text on one side and an image on the right side of that text, you would use a two column section so that the text and image content can be placed in their own columns beside each other.

Smart Objects

Smart objects are elements that can be added to the page that have specific functionality built into them.

These smart objects allow you to do a variety of things such as embed maps, add HTML code on page, add a blog section to a page, add a calendar to a page, add social sharing buttons and many more functions. Once a smart object is added to a page, the settings and functionality of the smart object can be customized by clicking the pencil icon in the left corner. The settings window will then open and you will see all the available options for customizing the smart object.

Obituary Objects

Obituary related objects can be added to the page via the "Obituaries" tab on the site editor.

Just like smart objects and sections, the obituary objects can be dragged and dropped on the page. A variety of obituary objects are available to add different styles of obituary listing, obituary search bars and the obituary alert sign up. The pencil icon in the upper left will let you customize the obituary object settings and stylings.

Generic Items

A number of generic items are available to add to the page under the generic items tab of the editor sidebar.

These objects are for adding standard types of content to the page such as headlines, text boxes, images, separator lines, files and more. As with the other object types, these objects can just be dragged and dropped onto the page where you want them.
