To add a charity to a record, from the Death Records page, highlight a record and click on the "Preferred Charities" button.
On the preferred charities page, charities can be added via the "Add Charity" button or the "Create Custom Charity" button.
If you click “Add Charity”, you will be able to search for a charity from the My Tribute Gift database. My Tribute Gift is Funeral Tech’s partner for charity donations. Searching for a registered charity in this database will allow you to enable credit card processing on the tribute, meaning that families can donate directly through the tribute page. When a My Tribute Gift charity is added to a record, users will be taken to the My Tribute Gift platform to donate when they click the donate button on the page. They can choose to either donate to the preferred charity at the top or they can search the database for a different charity to donate to. All donation payments will be handled through the My Tribute Gift platform.
The create custom charity options allows you to add any charity or organization you want. Note that Custom Charities do not exist in the My Tribute Gift database, and so people will only be able to pledge donations, not make them directly through the tribute page. You may wish to use Tribute Links to guide people to the right place if you want to link them directly to the charities website.
When a custom charity is clicked, a page will open that displays the charities information such as name, mailing address and website/phone/email if applicable. The user can enter their information to pledge a donation amount to be posted for this charity. The user will be responsible for mailing the check out to the charity or making a donation through the charities website themselves if applicable. The pledged donation will display on the tribute wall like any other donation but no payment will be taken through the system and the user will be responsible for donating the pledged amount to the charity either by check or other means.
Once a charity has been added to the record, a donations tab will appear on the tribute page where the obituary and tribute wall tabs appear.
