Data Entry - Marketing
The marketing feature in MiMS allows for tracking of death records in your area which can be used to generate reports on market share.
MiMS contains a unique module that allows you to keep track of the deaths in your specific market. For any given period, a Marketing Report may be printed showing you a comparative analysis of the number of deaths for each of the funeral homes you are tracking. Additionally, through the datasheet view window you can filter information allowing you to track churches, organizations, zip codes, cities or any criteria you have entered. This information can be invaluable when it comes to determining where you want to spend your advertising dollars.
In order to use this module to its full effectiveness, you must take the time to enter in your competitors into the Competitors Setup and all of your area's death notices from your local newspaper. To give you a complete overview of your local market share, the system must be able to compile data not only from your funeral home but from other funeral homes as well.
Setting Up and Tracking Area Deaths
- From the MAIN MENU, click MARKETING. The MARKETING DATA window will open.
- Type in the basic information using the drop-down boxes to fill in pre-entered information. Enter only information you intend to track consistently.

- Survivor information may also be added by clicking the Survivors button.
- Click Save-Next to continue entering information.
- Click Back to Home when done.
Printing Marketing Reports
There are 2 areas in MiMS that reports are located.
- From the MAIN MENU, click REPORTS and click Marketing and run the Market Share (%) Sorted by Funeral Home report.

- From the MAIN MENU, click GRAPHS and click Marketing Graphs Reports and run the Market Share (%) by Funeral Home report.
Both reports in general give information detailing the calls in the area and the break down by funeral home those calls were located, gives the information in a text layout while the other gives a graphical layout of the information.
**In order to use this marketing tool to your full advantage, you must take the time to enter in all area death notices from your local paper. You cannot receive a complete overview of your local market share unless MiMS can compile data you enter regarding other funeral homes' services as well as your own.
