Accounts Tab
The accounts tab allows you to manage your chart of accounts and easily add, remove or edit existing accounts in your COA.
On the accounts tab of the accounting section, your chart of accounts will be listed out along with options to edit, add or remove accounts. The chart of accounts is associated to corporations in the system, if you have multiple corporations set up, you can utilize the corporation drop down at the top to toggle through different corporations.

To edit account information, simply click an account in the list and the account information will populate in the area below the chart of accounts list. Name of account, account type, account number, balance and start balance will be displayed. The balance and start balance of an account will not be editable but the rest of the information can be changed and saved using the save account button at the bottom.

To add a new account, click the add account button at the bottom of the section. The account information section will show up with blank fields where you can enter your account information and save the account to the list. When adding a new account, the start balance can be set. This is the amount that is in the account at the time that the account is first being added to the system.

Accounts can be removed from the list by highlighting an account and clicking the delete account button at the bottom of the section.

At the top of the accounts section, the period close date can be used to lock transactions from being edited in a corporations accounts that occurred before the period close date. For example, if the period close date for a corporations chart of accounts is set to September 1st 2022, no transactions on those accounts can be edited that occurred before September 1st 2022. If a user has permissions on their account that allows them to edit the period close date, the date can be changed in order to edit transactions if needed.

The accounting start date is the date that the corporations chart of accounts first started being used in the system. Changing this date will wipe the transactions from the accounts listed. This date should never be changed unless you want your entire chart of accounts to be wiped clean and start over new.
