AI Event Extraction

Tribute websites have a feature to automatically extract event information from obituary text using the AI auto-detect function.

The AI Event Extraction feature uses AI to automatically extract structured event details from obituary text. Once obituary text is added into an obituary via the obituary text box, click “Auto Detect Event Details,” and the system will identify events for quick review and editing before publishing.

Once this button has been clicked, an event will be added in the events section with the extracted details. The event will be marked as "AI Generated". For example, the following obit has some service information at the bottom of the write up.

After using the auto detect button, an event was added to the event section with the information and marked as AI generated.

AI generated events, can be edited just like any other event. If only partial event information is in the obituary text, the auto-detection may add just a partially completed event that needs the remaining information entered by a staff member.

For example, in the following obituary text the date and location is there but no start time is given.

This will still add an event but the start time will need to be manually added to the event in the events section before the event can be posted to the site.
