Creating or Editing Videos

Tribute Video's editor allows you to create videos with ease through our user friendly editing tools.

New videos can be created by clicking the create new video button on the video page or in the navigation menu.

To edit an existing video, click the pencil icon on the video project.

Setup

The set up page is the first section of the video editor. This section allows you to edit basic information that will appear in the video such as name, date of birth, date of death and the obituary.

The introductory text area at the top allows you to add an intro phrase that displays before the name on the intro slide.

The theme of the video will set a variety of defaults for the video regarding the background images, effects, transitions and images used on the DVD components. The theme can be changed or customized under the intro theme section.

When changing a theme you will be shown a list of all the themes in our theme library. On the right side you will see a preview of some of the theme art. If you wish to use that theme, simply click the use theme button under the preview. If you would like to customize a part of that theme, you can click the customize theme button under the preview.

When customizing a theme you will be taken to a screen that shows the different theme defaults along the top tabs, each tab will show you what is customizable for that section. Anything from images, text stylings and effects can be customized individually for the different components.

Upload Link

In the upload link section, you can enable and share a link to the family that allows them to upload photos to be used in the video.  Any photos uploaded in this share link will appear in the slides section for the video.

The link can be enabled via the enable upload link toggle. Settings for the link access and upload restrictions can be set under the upload link settings window, along with the ability to add a note for the family.

Below the upload link there is a variety of options for sharing the link. The link can be copied, emailed, texted or a QR code can be generated.

Slides

The slides section is where you can add photos, videos and text slides to display in the video. The video content displays in a slideshow style format, each slide will transition onto the page for a set amount of seconds and then transition off for the next side to appear.

Photos or videos added by the family through the upload link will appear in this section. If you are using Tribute Video through the website via the website integration, photos and videos that are posted on the tribute wall of the website will also appear here. 

Slides can be added by clicking the add media button at the top of the page or by clicking the add more slide. You will be given two options, one to add photos or videos and one to add stock video content from our video library.

If you choose to add a photo or video, a browser window will appear for you to select the photo or video from your device to upload.

If you choose to add a stock video, you will be taken to our video library where you can navigate between a variety of categories and select the video you would like to add.

Text slides can be added by clicking the add text button. This will let you add a slide with a message written on it, it will display with a default theme background or there are also options to change the background to white or black.

The customize video button will take you to the customization window where you can make changes to various stylings for backgrounds, effects, overlays and transitions in the video. Changes made in this area will apply to the entire video.

Backgrounds

  • Applies the selected background effect to the background image on slides.

Borders

  • Applies the selected border to the main image in the slide.

Effects

  • The effects in this section control how the main image is moving on the slide while it is in frame. 

Overlays

  • Overlay effects add animated particle or ray effects to the slides.

Transitions

  • Transitions determine the animation that the image uses to move in and out of the slide.

The reorder button allows you to drag and drop slides to order how they will appear in the video.

The more button give a few slide related options for restoring deleted slides, sorting slides in a variety of preset orders or downloading the slides.

Music

In the music section, you can select music from our music library or upload your own music to play throughout the video. 

Along the top of the section, you will see some information regarding video length and music length. The seconds per slide setting controls how long each slide will remain on screen in the video. Slide seconds can be changed to better time the video length and the music length.

The upload music button allows you to upload your own music files. It is important to note that if music is uploaded to be used in a video, you will need to accept the user agreement stating that you have obtained the appropriate licenses for the music being used in the video.

The select music button allows you to add music from our music library. The music library will present a number of categories and instruments that you can view songs from, songs will also show some tags that describe the mood of the song.

Once a song is added to the project, you will have an option to edit the song via the pencil icon on the song. 

Editing a song allows you to customize what section of the song plays and for how long, along with a slider to customize the volume that the song plays at.

Preview

The preview section will generate a preview of the video for you to view before finalizing the video. Below the video, a link is provided to share the preview of the video via email or text, along with an option to copy the link. This link can be sent to the family to approve the video before finalizing.

Finalize

On the finalize tab, this is where you will go through checkout to finalize and render the video. Options are available if you would like to order a DVD copy or thumb drive copy of the video. 

After making your selections, you will be taken to the checkout page where you can confirm your email and shipping address information.

After clicking continue, you will be prompted to accept the terms and approve the order.

The next page will show that your video render has been queued and once it begins rendering you will see a progress bar appear showing the percentage your video render is at.

Once your video has finished rendering, you will have an option to view the videos files or you can access the finished video files from the videos page on the video project.
