Chain Of Custody
Chain of custody allows you to track any movement of the decedent's body throughout the process either by manually updating the audit logs or by using the chain of custody app and QR code for tracking.
On the chain of custody page, audit entries can be added to track the movement of the decedent's body. Any logged entries for the case can be seen under the Audit Logs area of the page. There are a couple of different ways to add entries to the log.
Manual Entry
Log entries can be manually added by clicking the Add New Audit button at the top of the audit logs area.
This will open up the add new audit window where a staring place and end place can be added for the entry. The notes input allows for any details about the entry to be added.
Chain Of Custody App
A chain of custody app is available for both Android and iOS that allows for entries to be added to a case via a QR code scan in the app. The app can be downloaded from the links below:
Once logged in on the app you will see recent activity listed for all the cases in your system.
To view details for an entry, simply click the down arrow to expand the entry. You will see who the body was moved by, previous place and any notes regarding the entry.
QR codes can be scanned to add entries to the audit log. At the top of the chain of custody page in TMS, you will see a QR code.
This QR code can be downloaded and printed out to be kept near the body to allow for easy log entry via the app when needed. In the app, simply click the camera icon and move the camera over the QR code to scan it.
Once your device scans the QR code you will be taken to the corresponding case inside the app.
To add an entry after being taken to the case page, click the plus icon at the bottom of the screen and enter the details for the entry.
After clicking submit, your new entry will show up in the audit log.
Personal Effects
Under the personal effects tab, personal items can be listed out for tracking. To add an item, simply enter the name and description to the add personal effect area and click create. Any items entered will be listed out at the bottom of the page and items can be edited or deleted via the pencil or x icons on the right side.
